Raymond Furness, CPA, M.S. TAX

Mr. Furness has over 15 years of tax and audit experience. In 1995, Mr. Furness held the position of Financial Analyst with the financial services firm of Smith Barney in Santa Barbara (now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney). In his capacity as a financial analyst, Mr. Furness performed analysis of public company financial statements, designed to uncover misrepresentations and misstatements.

Mr. Furness began his career as a CPA with Nigro, Karlin & Segle CPAs in Century City where he performed forensic/investigative audits of companies and individuals in bankruptcy court. These forensic audits were principally focused on a search for diverted income (embezzlement), hidden assets and related party transactions. He also performed audits for major A-list actors requiring financial information about the residual income they were due from major film production companies.

Over the past twelve years, Mr. Furness practiced with the Encino firms of Cutrow, White & Boroda CPAs, Shahrouzi & Furness, CPAs and Furness & Associates, Accountancy Corporation where his accounting and tax practice focused upon individual, estate/trust and corporate/partnership tax compliance matters, IRS & State tax controversy representation/advocacy, dental and medical practices, as well forensic accounting investigations in business and matrimonial disputes. In his capacity as a tax manager and later as tax partner in these respective firms, Mr. Furness represented numerous taxpayers undergoing IRS audits and federal tax collection issues, and has performed in-depth financial investigative work in litigated matters. He consults with attorneys as an expert in tax and forensic accounting matters.


Ali

Ali Jahanbakhsh, Enrolled Agent Candidate

Ali was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He studied economics and accounting at California State University, Northridge. While attending school full-time Ali also worked full-time bookkeeping and packaging tax returns. After graduation, Ali pursued a different career path and began work as a Clinical Research Associate. Ali’s experience as a Research Associate allowed him to work in various healthcare settings, including UCLA Medical Center, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and private practice. As a result, he has gained a tremendous amount of insight into the world of healthcare. After 6 years of clinical research Ali came back to his accounting roots, joining the Furness Associates team in 2014.

Ali performs a wide variety of tasks for our firm including tax preparation, incorporation of business entities, dissolution of business entities, and revivals. He also helps clients with handling notices from various agencies: IRS, FTB, EDD, etc. He works closely with Mr. Furness to resolve any advance or intricate tax issues.

Ali is in the process of adding to his tax preparation credentials by becoming a federally-authorized tax practitioner.


Mila

Mila Revelle, Executive Assistant

Mila is a Brazilian native and is the youngest of her family. She grew up wanting to be in the health field inspired by her father who was an orthopedic doctor and both sisters who are dentists, but found out Law was a better match. A combination of education and hard work has always been an important part of her life as it was always emphasized by her parents as the step latter to success.

She has gone through several interesting learning experiences working with Brazilian judges and politicians in 2008 while going to University of Vila Velha Law School where she studied before moving to California in 2012. Los Angeles holds a special place in her heart as it was the setting to where she fine tuned the techniques of understanding human behavior and behavior modification with a certification from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute before joining the Furness & Associates team in early 2015 as an Executive Assistant.

As an executive assistant, she is the go to person for new clients inquires and scheduling appointments with Mr. Furness. Additionally, she assists the office with various tasks ranging from contacting clients for financial information to filing statements of information.
